There’s something special about watching a man and his dog explore the world together. Especially if it’s a beautiful location like Delnor-Wiggins Park. Frequently Asked questions
Pets & People
Can I be in the photos with my pet?
Absolutely! While the focus is on your pet, I’m always happy to include you in some shots to capture your special bond. We can do a mix of just your pet and some with you together, so you have photos that show off both their personality and your love for them. Can I bring more than one pet?
I love photographing multiple pets. But we’ll have to discuss this first. Just let me know how many you are thinking of bringing. I’ll make sure each pet gets their moment to shine, whether it’s a duo or a whole pack. The time of the session will necessarily increase with each additional pet.Where will the pet photography session take place?
Sessions can be at my cozy studio in Naples, FL, or at a location of your choice, like your home or a favorite park. We’ll pick a spot that’s comfortable for your pet and photogenic for the shoot—somewhere they feel at ease so we can capture their best side. How should I prepare my pet for the session?
A quick grooming session to make their coat look shiny is a great start. Have their favorite toys or treats to keep them happy and engaged during the shoot. Also, make sure they’ve had a chance to go to the bathroom before we start—it keeps everyone relaxed and focused. If it’s a kitty, make sure s/he eats right before the session but is still fully awake. If it’s a doggie, it’s the opposite, make sure s/he is slightly hungry and is interested in treats. What if my pet is shy or doesn’t like having their picture taken?
No worries! I have lots of experience with all kinds of pets, from shy cats to energetic dogs. I’ll use treats, toys, and plenty of patience to make them feel comfortable. We’ll take it slow and capture those natural moments when they’re relaxed and being themselves. It just may take a bit more getting used to.How soon can I get the photos after the session?
You’ll receive all the lightly edited photos within 24 business hours to choose your favorites, then I’ll retouch your selected images (the number depends on your chosen package found on the Price page) and deliver them via Dropbox in 5-7 days. It’s quick so you can share the joy sooner! But if for any reason you absolutely have to have them even sooner, it can be arranged for a small fee (currently $100).Do you shoot in the evening too?
Yes, I absolutely shoot in the evening too! Evening light in Naples can be pure magic – warm, golden-hour glow that makes everyone look amazing. It’s one of my favorite times to capture those soft, dreamy portraits, especially on the beach or in a park where the sunset adds a special touch. Plus, evenings can work great if your schedule is tight. Just let me know what time suits you, and we’ll make it happen with that beautiful light! How far in advance should we book?
Ideally at least 2-8 weeks in advance depending on the season. Naples can get busy, particularly during peak times like holidays, school breaks, or the winter months when tourists flock to the area, so booking early ensures you get your preferred slot and allows me to plan for the best lighting and location for your session.
That said, I know life can be unpredictable, and sometimes you need photos sooner than expected. I’ll do my best to squeeze you in if my schedule allows. Just send me a text message. My goal is to make this as stress-free as possible for you.
What if the weather is bad on the day of our outdoor session?
No problem! We can reschedule for a better day or move the session to an indoor location. Your comfort and safety are my top priorities. Here is an important note for our Naples guests: please never schedule your session on the last day of your trip. Why? If the weather is bad and we need to reschedule, it’s best to have 2-3 days before your departure to find a good weather day.
How long does a typical session last?
From 15 to 90 minutes. However, what I found in my 20+ years of being a photographer is that a focused 30 minute session is just the right time. Something called a ‘Smile fatigue’ which is a very real phenomenon in photography happens during longer photo sessions. When people have to hold smiles for extended periods or repeatedly smile on command during a long photoshoots:
- The facial muscles literally get tired
- People become mentally drained from maintaining a positive expression
- There is a noticeable decline in authenticity
- This is especially pronounced with children, who typically can only maintain genuine engagement for 15-20 minute
I know how to work efficiently to capture genuine moments quickly, which is why 15-30 minute sessions can actually yield better results than traditional longer sessions. But if necessary, the shoots can take longer.
There is beauty in every face.
