Frequently Asked questions
Maternity Photos
When is the best time to schedule a maternity photoshoot?
Most photographers recommend scheduling your session between 28 and 36 weeks of pregnancy. This timing allows your bump to be prominent while you’re still comfortable moving around. If you’re expecting multiples, you might want to schedule a bit earlier, around 26 to 32 weeks. What should I wear for my maternity photos?
For maternity photos, it’s best to wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Flowy dresses are popular as they accentuate your bump beautifully. Solid colors or simple patterns work well, and many photographers offer wardrobe guides or even have dresses you can borrow for the session.Where can we have our maternity photoshoot?
The location for your maternity photoshoot can be anywhere that holds special meaning for you, such as your home, a favorite park, or even the place where you got engaged. Some photographers also have studio spaces available. Discuss with your photographer to find the best spot that suits your vision. Is it safe to have a maternity photoshoot?
Yes, maternity photoshoots are generally safe for both you and your baby. Sessions are typically short and can be done in a comfortable setting. Photographers are mindful of your comfort and will ensure that poses and activities are safe and gentle. How soon can I get the photos after the session?
You’ll receive all the lightly edited photos within 24 business hours to choose your favorites, then I’ll retouch your selected images (the number depends on your chosen package found on the Price page) and deliver them via Dropbox in 5-7 days. It’s quick so you can share the joy sooner! But if for any reason you absolutely have to have them even sooner, it can be arranged for a small fee (currently $100).Do you shoot in the evening too?
Yes, I absolutely shoot in the evening too! Evening light in Naples can be pure magic – warm, golden-hour glow that makes everyone look amazing. It’s one of my favorite times to capture those soft, dreamy portraits, especially on the beach or in a park where the sunset adds a special touch. Plus, evenings can work great if your schedule is tight. Just let me know what time suits you, and we’ll make it happen with that beautiful light! How far in advance should we book?
Ideally at least 2-8 weeks in advance depending on the season. Naples can get busy, particularly during peak times like holidays, school breaks, or the winter months when tourists flock to the area, so booking early ensures you get your preferred slot and allows me to plan for the best lighting and location for your session.
That said, I know life can be unpredictable, and sometimes you need photos sooner than expected. I’ll do my best to squeeze you in if my schedule allows. Just send me a text message. My goal is to make this as stress-free as possible for you.
What if the weather is bad on the day of our outdoor session?
No problem! We can reschedule for a better day or move the session to an indoor location. Your comfort and safety are my top priorities. Here is an important note for our Naples guests: please never schedule your session on the last day of your trip. Why? If the weather is bad and we need to reschedule, it’s best to have 2-3 days before your departure to find a good weather day.
How long does a typical session last?
From 15 to 90 minutes. However, what I found in my 20+ years of being a photographer is that a focused 30 minute session is just the right time. Something called a ‘Smile fatigue’ which is a very real phenomenon in photography happens during longer photo sessions. When people have to hold smiles for extended periods or repeatedly smile on command during a long photoshoots:
- The facial muscles literally get tired
- People become mentally drained from maintaining a positive expression
- There is a noticeable decline in authenticity
- This is especially pronounced with children, who typically can only maintain genuine engagement for 15-20 minute
I know how to work efficiently to capture genuine moments quickly, which is why 15-30 minute sessions can actually yield better results than traditional longer sessions. But if necessary, the shoots can take longer.
There is beauty in every face.
